Cori L. McGuire,
Parenting Coordinator, Family Law Arbitrator, Collaborative Family Law Lawyer (Non-Litigation Practice)
I have practised family law for 28 years and have provided Parenting Coordination services to families across British Columbia for the past 18 years. My practice is now focused exclusively on Parenting Coordination, arbitration, and other non-litigation dispute resolution services. I work remotely throughout British Columbia, assisting families to reduce conflict, stabilize parenting routines, and implement practical, child-centred systems that support long-term success.
My work is informed by extensive experience with high-conflict family dynamics, executive-functioning challenges, and neurodivergence. I apply a neurodiversity-informed and trauma-aware framework that emphasizes understanding the difference between capacity-based limitations and conflict-driven behaviour. This perspective assists me in designing structured communication and decision-making processes that support parents who struggle with overwhelm, literal communication styles, emotional escalation, or chronic disagreement.
My Parenting Coordination approach is structured, neutral, and outcome-oriented. I focus on creating clear communication processes, predictable decision-making systems, and practical implementation strategies that help parents move out of reactive cycles and into stable routines. In many cases, communication patterns improve significantly once effective structure is introduced, resulting in a calmer and more predictable environment for children. All services are provided strictly within the authority and jurisdiction conferred by the applicable court order, Parenting Coordination agreement, or family law agreement.
I currently serve as a Director and Co-Chair of the Policy & Practice Committee of the BC Parenting Coordinators Roster Society. I am also committed to public education and have developed a free educational resource website, Parenting Coordinator BC Online, featuring more than 80 articles, handouts, and educational resources on Parenting Coordination, conflict dynamics, communication, child development, and neuroscience-informed approaches to family conflict. These resources are designed to help parents, professionals, and the public better understand the challenges facing separated families and the role of Parenting Coordination in supporting children.
My work is grounded in neutrality, clarity, accountability, and a consistent focus on children’s emotional well-being. I believe that families experiencing ongoing conflict benefit from firm, fair, and compassionate structure, and from systems that create stability they can reliably experience over time.
